LHC Computing Grid Project
Geant4 Subproject
Simulation Project LCG Applications Area

General information

Subproject leader: John Apostolakis

This subproject encompasses the effort undertaken in the PH/SFT group in maintaining, supporting and further developing the Geant4 simulation toolkit. The work plans prepared are driven by the requirements for supporting the LHC production usage and maintenance of a number of toolkit components, the collection of new experiment requirements and the creation of new functionality.

The work is done in close collaboration with Geant4 colleagues in many institutions around the world, working to address the requirements of these and other user communities and contributing to the development, support and maintainenance of the complementary set of toolkit components. Together, in the Geant4 collaboration, we provide the releases of the Geant4 software for all users, including users in the LHC experiments, other HEP experiments and facilities, and for applications in fields as diverse as medicine and space.

Activities and People

Team members include:

Source and Binary Distributions for LCG & CERN users

A check-out area with the source and libraries for the latest Geant4 releases (major, minor and beta/development) and patches to the releases are available for LCG and any CERN experiment / user.

The libraries are available for the set of supported platforms from the SPI external software service.

Please find instructions on how to use the distributions from the Starting guide.
